This season, new artists will be putting out their variants of classic Christmas songs and I will listen to all of them. It is always fascinating to hear a brand new take on old classics. However, many of the Top Selling Christmas Songs for 2010 will probably be the ones that you simply have come to know and appreciate over the years, the Christmas songs for kids which have survived the test of time.

In this write-up, I’m going to tell you my selections for the top ten classic Christmas songs.

Leading off the group is Nat King Cole. Taken from what I consider to be one of the best Christmas Albums of all time, “The Christmas Song” is not only the album title but the name of the song. Initially registered in 1946, this song is nonetheless certainly one of the top selling Christmas songs available on the market.

The Vince Guaraldi Trio comes in at number 2 on our Christmas songs list. The name might not be well known to you but their songs sure are. This song, choice #2, is called “Christmastime is Here”. Does it not ring a bell? How about if I tell you that it comes from the album titled “A Charlie Brown Christmas”? Launched in 1965, this song is still a holiday bestseller.

Can chipmunks do Christmas? You bet they could. “The Chipmunk Song” is rated # three of the all time classic Christmas songs.

Bing Crosby comes in at number 4 with “White Christmas”. Launched way back in 1945, this song is the heart and soul of Christmas. It comes from the album of the exact same name and remains the best selling Christmas album of all time.

Eartha Kitt enters the list at number 5 with her performance of “Santa Baby”. Launched in 1953, the melody harkens back to a day when a slow seductive beat, mixed with a great feminine voice, made for intoxicating music. In “Santa Baby”, Eartha Kitt, as the voice of all ladies, asks for the most expensive presents utilizing all her female wiles. Women of all ages, perform this song for your males this Christmas and you will receive each and every present your heart wants!

At #6, we have Dean Martin singing “Baby, It is Cold Outside”. The lovable Dean Martin is someone that belongs in every Christmas collection. Pour your self a stiff eggnog and listen to Dean Martin for the Holiday seasons.

A Christmas cannot be spent with out the Christmas hymns of Andy Williams. At #7, we have “The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year”. Composed and performed in 1963, this song has become a Christmas staple. How suitable simply because Christmas is truly “The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year”.

The “Twelve Days of Christmas” brought to you by Ray Conniff & The Ray Conniff Singers is number 8 on the list of the top classic Christmas songs. Everyone knows this one and it belongs in every selection.

A somewhat new entry on the checklist is Amy Grant. She is at #9 with her recording of “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”. Needless to say, this song has been performed by a huge selection of performers but her performance surpasses all.

And what would a Christmas list be without Elvis Presley? His recording of “Blue Christmas” belongs in everybody’s collection.

Well, I was limited to 10 choices for this write-up and these are the songs that make my top 10 classic Christmas songs list.
